The Lord of the Rings - War in the North[5737]: WARNING: The Gestalt selector gestaltSystemVersion is returning 10.9.4 instead of 10.11.4. This is not a bug in Gestalt -- it is a documented limitation. Use NSProcessInfos operatingSystemVersion property to get correct system version number. Ich weiss, das es z. B. Mavericks noch lief.

Runs Great On Mac Pro 5,1 El Cap...

This game runs smooth as silk on my: MacPro5,1 El Capitan 10.11.6 (Previously ran on Yosemite w/no problems) Quad-Core Intel Xeon 2.8 GHz ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB 8 GB DDR3 ECC 1066 MHz WDC 999.35 GB Finished game w/out any glitches, now going for my repaly on Heroic to further level my characters… Update: 11/18/16 However, you better hope that you don’t let the door get anywhere near 1/2 strength b/f the trolls come in (2nd wave) at the Defense of Norinbad (2nd time there, not the 1st) b/c they take it out in 3 hits & the game saves right after the 1st wave of Sappers, so what ever the door strength is past them is auto-saved, not sure who thought this would be a good idea, but it’s awful, there are no other saves to go back to as each auto save overides the next throughout the entire game…this is my 2nd time playing through (3rd really) b/c I had to start over from my Heroic playthrough (that I was so happy about in my original post) b/c I got stuck in a lvl due to the Mirkwood Glitch that they never fixed...

Great game, great graphics

Wasn’t sure before buying it but then did. Didn’t regret it at all. Great game, great graphics and takes you away onto an adventure. You really get into the characters and the dialogs are well done. Great gaming experience and story. Some things could be more clear. Like what are the objects we pick up throughout the game. I picked up a bunch of precious rocks but didn’t know what to do with it. Stuff like that, not critical but would be good to have information for stuff like that.

If you like linear games...

Not very far into the game (Chap.10), but it is going well thus far. Once in a while, after a few hours of playing, the game, when changing chapters, comes back extremely slow (unplayable). I need to exit it, and get back in to continue. I am using the default video parameters. That is pretty much the only bug I have experienced. Of course, this is a very linear game. There is but one path forward, although it is possible to travel back to places you have been, once you get at milestones (usually, chapters). The dialogues are informational at best. You cant change level once the game is started, so if you get stuck somewhere at some point, before a milestone, there is no going back, because travel is only possible at milestones. All in all, I bought it because I am a fan of LOTR. I prefer LOTROnline, though, despite their own problems of graphic resolution and memory leaks. My system is: Processor 2.93 GHz Intel Core i7 Memory 16 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 Graphics ATI Radeon HD 5750 1024 MB Software OS X 10.8.5

Much Better

I agree with the original reviewer that its very linear (not surprising for a console oriniating game). Great looking game, fun battles. The 1.0.1 update fixes the occasional extreme slowdown issue. Consistently runs very well on my 06 Mac Pro with Radeon 5770 in 10.7.5

meh

this game is… meh not a real gaming game its more like a ummm// i got borde of the game the first second I opend it

Not Great

I wanted to like this game but it’s frustrating to play and here’s why. -In the battles, the camera is zoomed in too much around the character. You’re attacking an orc and another one comes up behind you but you can’t see them. And I have no idea where the other characters are while the battle is going on. I can hear them calling for help but can’t see anything but immediately in front of me. -I feel like I have no idea what I’m doing in the game but I keep progressing. I die, the other characters die, but somehow it all just keeps going. It’s all too easy. -Voice acting and script are also poor. I don’t have any motivation to keep playing the game. I also think it’s lame they’ve created another “original” fellowship with a ranger, dwarf and an elf. And guess what, they’re all BFFs! These ranger/dwarf/elf combos are so very common in the LOTR universe. At least they’ve put a girl into the fellowship this time. MEH!

so fun

combat is the best

Best game ever

Great game best action rpg in the world so good

A wonderful surprise

This is an amazing port, Feral did a fantastic job porting this over to Mac. I am running this game on mid to high detail with my 2012 MBP, 13 in. I have yet to have any issues, and have no complaints at all. Macbooks arent known for gaming, so this is a great, high quality visual game to add to your collection. I notice Feral also did Lego LOTR, so hopefully we will see more LOTR titles coming our way. I highly recomend this game.

Better than expected!

Just cleared normal difficulty. Overall worth the money

Amazing Game

I played this on the Xbox and it was ok. I decided to get the computer version to see if it was any better. The story was the same, just amazing. The gameplay and cutscenes were much better, with better voices and graphics. Macs arent known for gaming, but this one really tops it.

Really bad lagging issues

I have a 2013 MBP Retina and the game started great, after a few missions in it began to get really laggy. I took the graphics down, but did not help. Update?

So excited this game came to the Mac

This was one of my favorite games on the PS3, but I sold my PS3 so Im excited this came to the Mac. Game play is amazing. It is glichy on older computers, but it works great on my Macbook Pro 2010. This game has more visuals and story than the one I played on the PS3. As far as the gliches go, it wasnt so bad that it was distracting. If you love LOTRs then this is a great experience to live out a different aspect of the world. Im also playing with a LogiTech F310 controller which is about $20 and works great. Dont worry about it saying its PC only. Theres a switch on the controller than allows it to work fine on a mac. Its on the back and you switch it from X to D. There is also an iPhone/iPad game controller app that worked ok in a pinch, but I prefer the controller. Fun game. definitely recommending you buy.

Stop writing your own reviews

I refuse to believe all the glowing reviews of this game. Time and time again the game lags just as youre stuck in the middle of several enemies. Being healed does no good since they only kill you again. You clowns stole my money.

Freezes after chapter 5

Please fix this game!!!

Awesome Game

I really love this game. The Lord of the Rings has always been cool, but now that there is a good game on it…. IDK. its awesome.

Great game with a few bugs

Phenomenal game and lots of fun. Like others said, I had lag problems after chapter 5 and I have a souped up 2012 MacPro. PLease fix as it was great until then.

Great game, way too many bugs/crashes

I have a loaded 2010 iMac and it suddenly crashes from 1/13 on. Not impressed.

Crashes after Chapter 5, unplayable

Hello Feral, please kindly update the game as like several others have reported, the game drops to an unplayable framerate in Chapter 5 and onwards. I would love to complete the game but will have to wait for your update. I will post a 5 star rating review once this game is patched as it is an excellent port otherwise. Thank you for your your companys efforts in supporting the Mac platform for gaming.
